The next Spay & Neuter Clinic is Saturday, September 18.

CARE currently hosts monthly free spay-neuter clinics for limited income residents at its spay-neuter facility located on the grounds of the Little Rock Animal Shelter. CARE also provides grants to pet owners to help sterilize their companion dogs as well as CATSNIP grants for cats. Finally, CARE assists people adopting shelter pets with sterilization costs through our Rescue Sterilization Voucher Program (RSVP).

The City We Live In

As has been reported in the news, the City of Little Rocks general fund has had to be constrained this year due to declining sales tax receipts and franchise fees. Like many businesses in our city, we have had to tighten our belt while we push through this economic recession.

However, there are some in the city who take our belt-tightening as a sign that Little Rock is losing ground. I choose a different perspective.

Downtown Neighborhood Post-8/31/10

City Mgr. Bruce Moore will speak at the Sat. Sep. 11 meeting of the Coalition of Greater LR Neighborhoods at the Auditorium of the Hinton Resource Ctr., 12th & Pine, on the topic of city revenues, resources and budgets.

We are following the allocations made last Dec.; the July cuts; the discussion about other resources, which have not so far been used, etc.

The schedule for the budget for 2011 is also coming soon, and we will learn the dates for public input on this.

We meet from 10 a.m. to noon.

It has been a long, hot summer, leaving many Arkansas consumers, especially low-income consumers in need of assistance to meet higher than normal energy bills. Today Attorney General Dustin McDaniel issued a consumer alert to warn Arkansans that there is a scam afoot designed to take advantage of Arkansas consumers looking for help with utility bills.
